  Semi-State Champions
The Knights won 2 games Saturday to advance to the State Championship in Indianapolis at Victory Field! The Championship game with Crawfordsville (31-4) will be played on Saturday, June 14th at 4pm. An updated overview of the 3A State tournament is available.

In the first game on Saturday, Marian defeated #1 ranked Andrean 7-5 to end the 59er's season at 30-2. Jordan Niespodziany pitched a complete game for the win, scattering 6 hits and getting an error-less effort from the Knights defense.

The second game had the Knights facing Yorktown (29-5). Pat Asdell took the mound and pitched into the 6th inning. James Ross then relieved Pat with 1 out and a man on 2nd base with the score tied at 6. JR faced one batter, who he intentionally walked. Then Jordan took the mound for the second time Saturday, having time to warm up while James warmed up on the mound and faced his one batter. The score remained at 6-6 until the Knights came up to bat in the bottom half of the 8th. Stephen Barany led off and reached 1st after being hit by a pitch. Shawn Geraghty tried to move Stephen over to 2nd base on a bunt, but the Yorktown pitcher walked him on 4 pitches. Coley Parker then laid down a great bunt, the pitcher fielded it and looked to third base and no one was covering, everyone safe. Bases loaded and no one out. The Tigers pulled the right fielder into the infield to improve their chances of fielding a ground ball and making the force out at home. Aaron Rodgers put the ball in play but the defense held, throwing out Stephen at home. The defense reverted back to a more normal configuration for Dylan Brammer's at bat. Dylan lined a shot to the center fielder for what looked like the game winner, but Shawn was running on the play from third base and was nearly doubled off when the catch was made. The Knights were down but weren't giving up. Dan Ranschaert strode to the plate and after looking at called strike on the outside corner, took the next pitch down the right field line for a base hit. Knights win, 7-6 in 8 innings.

Pictures from both games, between games and the post-game celebration can be viewed. Many are blurry due to the excitement of the photographer and the constantly moving fans and players on the field.

The Knights win 2-1 in 11! Lakeland scored 1 on a solo HR in the 1st and Marian answered back with a run in the bottom of the opening frame. No more scoring until the bottom of the 11th. With bases loaded and 1 out, Dan Ranschaert stroked a line drive over the pulled in left fielder to score Coley Parker from third base. Pat Asdell pitched a terrific game, but was relieved with 1 out in the 9th by Jordan Niespodziany who finished the game for the win.
